Sephora & CVS Makeup Haul

I am aware that this post is like a month overdue but I have been so busy it’s just not true. Am I the only one who doesn’t enjoy the transition period from one routine to another ie. working 5 days a week to working 5 days a week and college 2 evenings a week. I am literally like a bag of cats cause I’m so out of sorts 😂😂.

Anyway! As I promised, many moons ago at this stage, here is my Sephora and CVS makeup haul from Boston. 💁💁💁

davKat Von D “Lock it” Setting Powder – One thing I love about Sephora is that they do loooaaads of Mini and Travel Size Products. You know if you want to try something, rather than buy the full size you can just pick up the mini size to try it and if you like then get the bigger one. If you’ve read my previous posts you will already know that I am a massive fan of the Kat Von D makeup range. This powder is amazing, my new favorite for mattifying my mush.  This little beauty was only $15 too.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – This is another mini from Sephora and it was only $15. I’ve been using it ever since I bought it and it literally does what it says on the bottle. It’s great for oily skin and really helps to keep your makeup in place. I always apply it for work cause the air conditioning reeks havoc on my face. It smells really weird, a not nice kind of weird but if you can get past that it’s grand😅.

Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer – Again, another mini, this was only $12. I actually only wear this if I’m going out so a little tube goes a really long way for me. I got it in a set years ago for Christmas and just loved it ever since. Probably the best primer I’ve ever worn? Leaves your skin super soft and completely blurs out any visible pores.

BECCA Glow on the Go Highlighter Set – This set was only $20. I’ve never tried BECCA before and I honestly cannot get enough of this highlight. It’s so shimmery and sparkly, the pigment is just 😱 😱 😱 😱 .

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – I got this eyeliner last year in New York and it STILL works!! It hasn’t run out or even come close to running out – could it be that it is secretly an endless supply🤔. All jokes aside, as I’ve mentioned before in a previous post, this is my favorite eyeliner and the only one I use (along with Inglot AMC gel liner). It’s so easy to use, doesn’t melt off. I picked up another one anyhow because, why not?

TARTE – Tartiest PRO Glow to Go Highlight & Contour Palette – All you have to do is take one look at this palette to understand why I got it. Doesn’t it just look fab 😍 It even smells like sweety chocolate 😍. This beauty was only $23, again in Sephora. Super super super superdey duper pigmented. The bronze shade is my new go to to contour my face (my cheeks and nose) and the highlights, I use the top shade for daytime and the middle shade for that glowwwww on the weekend. Tarte is officially a new fave of mine 😍.

Burt’s Bees Lip balm – I remember when I went to Australia, 6 years ago now, I bought a Burt’s bees gift box. It had 3 little lipbalms in it and I came home with them a year later. Being a lipbalm addict, again as I mention in a previous post, I love a good lipbalm. Funny enough I actually forgot about these and never bought them after Oz. But I saw these on special in CVS, I think they were like $8?, and couldn’t resist. I now have one in my car, my gym bag, my handbag and college bag. They smell amazing and leave my lips feeling so soft. AND they’re cruelty free guys😍.

Milani Lipstick in “Bahama Beige” – If you haven’t tried Milani yet, please do. It’s another one of those amazing drugstore brands that are such good quality and affordable. I think this was like $5? Really creamy and pigmented, I’m actually raging I didn’t get more but I honestly don’t think I need anymore lip products 😂😂😂.

NYX Plump it Up Lip Plumper – I feel like NYX can be a bit hit and miss with it’s products, I love the brand but some stuff I’ve tried just weren’t for me. I got these in CVS, as it says on them they’re lip plumpers, but when I wore them I didn’t see much of a plump happening. Now, to be honest I don’t mind because I’d rather I didn’t tingle the lips off myself but… if it says plump it should plump right? Anyway, I do love them because they’re actually fab on their own or as a lipstick topper. The nude is really pigmented and perfect to glossy up a nude lip.

MAC – Lipliners, Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour and Lipstick – Can you believe I’ve never ever bought MAC in the airport before? When I was going to Boston I promised myself I’d treat myself to some MAC. Now to some people this isn’t a lot but to me it’s loads. They had a lippy set with the Retro Matte Liquid Lip in “Look  Out” , Lipliner in “Nice ‘n’ Spicy” and the Prep and Prime, I think it was just under €30 and I just couldn’t pass it by. I already wanted to try the Prep and Prime because my sister Sophia swears by it for priming her lips for matte lipsticks. Then I got carried away and got the “Viva Glam II” Lipstick and “Dervish” Lipliner. You all already know how amazing MAC is so I don’t need to explain😊 😇😊 😇.

So guys, there you have it – my Boston Makeup Haul. I was in Liverpool there in September and I did another haul, I will try to do a post on this soon.

I hope you enjoyed this post – if you did, please give it a little like. If you find my blog interesting and want to keep up to date – subscribe using your email. Finally, if you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask!

As always, thanks for reading😘.

MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick Review

As you all know I am a big liquid lipstick lover, my favourites include Kat Von D to Limecime to Jeffree Star.

Well, last week before I went away I decided I wanted a nice Red Liquid Lipstick. Seeing as we are coming into the AW season and what not. But the thing with red lipsticks for me though is that it’s hard to find the perfect shade that suits me. Some are too bright, some have an orange undertone and they just don’t suit me at all. I tend to always go for WNW Missy and Fiercethe real deep warm reds. I was in Dunnes one day and I walked through the beauty aisle passed the Wet ‘n’ Wild stand.  I stopped to have a look to see what was new and the MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Lippies caught my eye. There is only a small range of colours but looking at them I would say there are about 4 that I would definitely wear. Seeing as I was looking for a red I picked the shade Missy and Fierce. I swatched it when I was home and just couldn’t get over how creamy the formula was, no streaks at all even with just one swipe. This shade in particular is just to die for, for me it’s the perfect shade of red.

Anyway, I packed it in my suitcase for my weekend away in Liverpool for himself’s birthday. I think every girl needs a romantic red to wear for a date night. I didn’t want to wear it to dinner because I’d honestly lick it all off. But I wore it one night when we were going out for drinks etc. This stuff really isn’t playing around when it comes to staying power… like… just wow. We went out at about 10.30pm and my fuzzy/drunky memory IMG_20170909_224116.jpgsays we came home at roughly 2.30pm/3.00pm. That lipstick was still on me when we got home – and I would like to add that I didn’t top it up ONCE. I’ve found with some liquid lippies that they begin to fade on the inside first, or they go bitty, or sometimes even peel off. This stuff did not budge, and it didn’t dry out my lips either. It’s also 100% kiss proof and smudge proof. When we were walking home Sean actually said to me – jaysis that stuff is still on you, that’s good isn’t it. I mean, if he even notices the staying power it has to be good right?

And you know what the best part is about it – it only cost me €5.00. A liquid lipstick that stays put and doesn’t cost a bomb – yes please!

You can purchase Wet ‘n’ Wild in select Dunnes Stores and in Penneys. I would 100% recommend these – I’m actually going to go back to pick up some of the other shades, the ones I liked were – Nudie Patootie, Rebel Rose, Give me Mocha, Video Vixen and Goth Topic.

I hope you enjoyed this little review – I picked up loads of new products in both Boston and Liverpool so I can’t wait to show you them once I’ve tried them.

My Journey to Boston 🛫🚊

Hello again and greetings from Boston!

So yesterday I left Dublin for Boston and thought I would put together a little post on the adventure I had getting here! It might be helpful for anyone going to Boston and taking this particular route.

My flight was at 3.20pm departing from Dublin and arriving in TF Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island. I arrived 3 hours before my flight to give me enough time to go through the US pre clearance – I flew through it but it’s always better to be safe than sorry! This was my first time flying with Norwegian IMG_20170819_103026_576Airlines and I have to say I am super super impressed. The staff were all so nice and helpful, the plane was really really clean and comfortable. It wasn’t a jumbo jet, it was actually quite small but had plenty of leg space though which I loved cause I’m tall and like my space! However there are two things I learned from this flight – 1. I should have brought a jumper or a cardigan, because the airline don’t seem to provide blankets (mind you, I didn’t ask but I didn’t see anyone get any). Lucky enough for me the sun was shining through my window for most of the flight so I didn’t get cold until we were landing. 2. They have no plugs or sockets to plug in your laptop, phone or USB. So charge up everything before you go – my phone went dead an hour before landing. Norwegian do offer free Wifi on the aircraft, which I didn’t get working until the end of the flight because I ran out of patience with it haha! But when I did get it working it was surprisingly fast so I could use Whats App and Instagram no bother.

Toward the end of the flight I got the most horrible headache and we hit a bit of turbulence and I started to feel really sick. I am normally a great traveler and love flying but I just got this wave of sickness over me and I couldn’t settle. I forgot to pack my travel tablets and my pain killers too so I had to make do with my water.

We had a little bumpy landing, it was really really misty and rainy when we landed, I’m still not sure how the pilot could see anything! We were then let off the plane pretty quick. I couldn’t wait to get off just so I could get some water and find somewhere that had panadol. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna heave OR my head was gonna burst😨. TF Green Airport is pretty small so it was only a short walk to baggage claim. Our baggage was delayed for whatever reason, but not by much (even though some people were giving out stink!) it was definitely quicker than Dublin Airport!

I got my bags anyway and headed for the Uber hub, I booked an Uber to pick me up at the airport just before I left Dublin. The Uber brought me to Providence Train station which was only 20 minutes away. I arrived only to find out that the train I had booked was running an hour late, which wasn’t an issue – but the guy at the helpdesk changed my ticket for the express train that I was arriving in 5 minutes and it only cost me $14 dollars. So off I went and jumped on the train and I arrived at the Back Bay Station in Boston in like 25 minutes. The train I had actually booked would have taken just over an hour, which I didn’t mind but the express was a nice treat after a crappy flight. So anyway, I arrived here much earlier than I had anticipated.

The apartment I booked was only an 8 minute walk from the station, according to Google IMG_20170819_124030_562Maps. So I headed off to find it, it was literally only down the road. I can tell you one thing though – I fucking had great fun wheeling two suitcases on the red brick paths, nice little work out! SO I will be getting a taxi when I leave!😂😂 I arrived at my apartment in no time though. I have never used Air BnB before but I can tell you that after seeing this place it will be my first option from now on. This apartment was an absolute steal – and the girl that owns it is just so sweet it’s not true. She literally has everything you could possibly need available in your room. It’s located only 5 minutes from the city centre and it is so cosy and homey – and full of gorgeous art.

I wasn’t supposed to see my sister Sophia until today but she text me to tell me she was IMG_20170819_092810_342outside just after I arrived – BEST SURPRISE EVER!!! So she stayed with me and we spent the whole night catching up. I walked her to the train station this morning and went off to find some brekkie. I found a lovely little place and got a bagel and a GIANT iced coffee. After that I wandered a bit and came back to relax for a while.

So guys, that was a little rundown of how I got to Boston! We have so much stuff planned I can’t wait to write all about it. I might put together a little post on my travel must haves, so stay tuned!

As always, I hope you enjoyed this travel post and thank you so much for reading.

How I keep my smile white 😁

Happy Friday everyone!

Soooooo today I wanted to share my little secret to keeping my teeth nice and white. Now they’re not exactly Hollywood White but they’re white enough for me! I’ve been using the  Beverly Hills Perfect White Black Toothpaste for the past 6 months now I’d say and I can honestly say this stuff is incredible. Aside from the fact that it only cost me like €4, the difference in the colour of my teeth since I started using it is amazing. I didn’t take any before and after pictures so let’s just hope you take my word for it hahaha!

What’s in the toothpaste that makes it so amazing? The main ingredient in the toothpaste 1 bev.jpgis the activated charcoal (which is the reason that the toothpaste is actually black, naturally). Charcoal is proven to be one of the most effective teeth whitener ingredients.  How does it work? Charcoal binds itself to the rough parts of your teeth which are normally surface stains or plaque. Once left on long enough, when the charcoal is removed, it takes the surface stains and plaque with it.

The trick with the toothpaste is to leave it on your teeth for a few minutes, before brushing, to let the charcoal do it’s work (although I wasn’t aware of this when I first started using it). It says on the instructions to achieve the best results, leave toothpaste on for 5 minutes and then brush. I know this seems like a long time, I know when I did it first it felt like ages but it is definitely worth the wait.

I will also mention that I have really really sensitive teeth and this toothpaste didn’t Smile

make them sensitive or anything, they were fine.  Love love love this stuff and it will definitely be a product that I will always have. You can get it in Boots or Bradley’s Pharmacy(that’s where I got mine), for under €5.

So if you are looking for a teeth whitening toothpaste that works, try this! I promise it’s amazing 😁.

I hope you enjoyed todays post😙. I have been thinking about trying some teeth whitening strips, so I decided on trying the iWhite ones as they seem to be the ones that are suitable for people with sensitive teeth. I saw that Boots have them on offer for half price so I am going to pick these up today and give them a go. I wanted to give my teeth that extra glow before I go away in two weeks (TWO WEEKS!!! SO EXCITED). So do stay tuned because I will definitely to a product review on these 😙.

As always, thank you for reading😙.

Makeup Must Haves

Matte me up 😍

Happy Mon-yay everyone!😍

For this weeks Makeup must have Monday I thought I’d share my secret weapon for setting my makeup and keeping my skin mattifyed and shine free.

I’ve been using pressed powders over my foundation for years, I find it’s the only thing Collection-Sheer-Loose-Powder-20g-Translucent-2-292265that helps to keep my face shine free. I picked up the Collection Sheer Loose Powder in Boots there last year and have not stopped using it since. The powder is really fine and light weight so when it’s applied it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on your face. If I have a full face of makeup on I normally apply this with a beauty blender, under my eyes, along my forehead and under my cheek bones. Or if I am only wearing a small amount of foundation or BB cream I just use a big powder brush and dust it over my face. I was a bit skeptical trying it because the powder is practically white, but it blends perfectly with your skin and gives a gorgeous matte finish. You can get this in Boots or Superdrug, it’s no more than €4. This little baby is definitely a makeup bag must have to add that matte finish to your makeup look😚.

Though I have never tried the Laura Mercier Loose Powder I would say this one poses as a pretty good dupe and not to mention a cheaper option🤔. I guess I better try them both and see!

A short and sweet post for today but I do hope you liked it😚.

As always, thank you for reading.

Next Stop – Boston ✈️

My next adventure of 2017 is my upcoming holiday to Boston. My sister Sophia is there at the moment working (she left me almost a year ago and yes I am still devastated😭) so I’m going to go and see her in August – 22 days left to be exact. I’m going for 10 days – 9 nights and I am soooooo super excited 😍😍😍. I’ve never been to Boston before so I’m really  looking forward to exploring a new city.

I booked my flights with Norwegian Airlines for only €200 return!!! They had a massive sale on and with prices like that I just couldn’t say no! HOWEVER, the reason the flights were so cheap is 1. the fare doesn’t include checked baggage and 2. it also doesn’t include inflight meals. But I don’t mind because it’s only €70 to add on a checked bag (return) and I would prefer to bring my own little snacks and stuff to keep my going on the flight. While I was hunting for accommodation I soon discovered that the price for hotels in Boston is, to put it simply, extortionate! I mean, the prices were starting at €1,800 for 9 nights and going up as far as €5,000…. that’s just crazy!! Even the Air Bnb wasn’t coming in much cheaper. I found a hostel which had decent enough ratings, this was around €950, but the rooms were literally like prison cells. I decided to give Air Bnb one last trawl and I came across a gorgeous little apartment in central Boston for less than €1,200. An absolute steal if you ask me!

So aside from going shopping and eating everything in site my list of things to do includes –

  • Sam Adam’s Brewery
  • Quincy Market
  • Boston Tea Party Site
  • The Freedom Trail
  • Museum of Science
  • Museum of Fine Arts
  • Skywalk Observatory
  • Harvard University

and the list will go on because I’m still finding more things to see and do😂.

I will do some blog posts on my travel essentials and tips for you so do stay tuned. If you liked this post please do give it a little like or comment😗.

Thank you for reading 😗.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Back to the Gym I go

After much deliberating and excuse making I FINALLY dragged my brown little butt backIMG_20170726_142158_489.jpg to the gym. I have been a member of Energie Fitness since August last year and guess how many times I’ve gone… not a whole lot🙄🙄. See when I joined last year I set myself a little goal, and that is that I would go to the gym when I can. I promised myself I wouldn’t kill myself trying to go because that would be when I would start to hate going. I have joined gyms and bootcamps before and when I got fed up I cancelled and then when I got all motivated again I was kicking myself for leaving. So this time I told myself to be a member for as long as I want, and go when I want to. No pressure no stress, just exercise when I’m up for it basically🤗🤗.

So I started back on Monday and let me tell you I literally dragged myself out of the bed and out of the house.. and drove as slow as possible to the gym 🙄🙄. BUT I left the gym feeling really good and proud of myself for going and putting the effort it. I’m trying to improve my fitness so I’m working on my cardio at the moment – mainly because I cannot run for the life of me. While I also want to trim down (as I’m feeling a bit fluffy) and I would like to tone up – I ultimately just want to feel better. I’m so sick of feeling so tired, sluggish and just plain crappy. I’m also tired of looking at myself in the mirror and wishing I looked a different way. I don’t think that I am by any means fat or flabby or ugly or any of them things – but I’d just like to look in the mirror and think “wow, I look good, I look healthy”. At the moment I’m a healthy size 12 and that’s the size I plan to stay at.

I think sometimes it can be very hard to love the skin that your in nowadays. All you have to do is scroll through my Instagram to know what I mean. It’s just full of skinny toned models with perfect skin hair teeth lips bums boobs…everything! And I know that strongsometimes it’s just the way the photo is or the lighting is or the way they’re posed. But I think you automatically just cannot help but say – jaysus look at her, wouldn’t you love to look like her. What we should be doing rather than comparing ourselves to them is use them as an inspiration for your own aspirations and goals. At the end of the day you are you and there is only one YOU. No two people are the same – so instead of trying to look like someone else why not work at being the best version of YOU?

So this is what my aim is – to be the best version of ME. I think I owe it to myself to put a little bit of effort in to feel better about myself. Currently I’m focusing on eating clean, drinking more water and not depriving myself while I do it – because honestly, I couldn’t live without garlic mayo.

I will keep you guys up to date on my little journey so do stay tuned – I might even post a before and after pic🙄😘.

As always, thanks so much for reading😘.
